More of a diary entry than a blog but blimey it was windy today!

Took full advantage of the Bank Hol and sunshine to get out on the bike for over two hours. Riding into a spirited headwind for a solid 25 minutes makes you very grateful for the shelter of hedges.  Fortunately the two gusts that really did take me by surprise happened when I was on a dual carriageway – so a bit of room for manoeuvre.  Great fun cycling in that kind of wind.

I should have done more hills but hey, I stood up on the pedals for one, so that’s a plus.

After the main roads there were a lot of country lanes, all frothing at the edges with creamy cow parsley, gorgeous lambs in the fields and very little traffic about.  Five other cyclists passed in the other direction including one girl in Gloucester City Cycling Club strip so maybe they’re not as sexist a bunch as they once were.  It’s hard to forgive them for asking me to do the teas.

  1. I don’t know whether it was also sunny for you but here it was, but surprisingly cool for how beautiful it was. I certainly wanted to be in a sheltered spot.

One should always be prepared with a windbreak, Sophie. 😉

It was the only single thing that made our family foray to Great Yarmouth bearable when I was a kid.

Saw *another* girl cyclist (a different one) in Gloucester City strip yesterday. Blimey. Maybe they’re taking over and the men are doing the teas! YES!! 🙂
