The terrible two are getting more adventurous.
Hilarious antics in the apple tree this morning. Lily Savage fearlessly crappled her way up the trunk and then struggled and squirmed and negotiated her way through the thicket of branches like a a particularly inept squirrel. When she reached the top-most branches she stood, head held up and looking pleased with herself, listening and watching for birds.
She messed about in the tree, generally clambering, slipping, almost falling, climbing some more etc etc for half an hour before tiring of it all.
Leo made a couple of attempts to get up there too but being bigger, found it more tricky to get through the branches and being a bit thicker than Lily, didn’t see the point. He got to the top of the tree with her once, but very rapidly got fed up with it.
A good way of trimming the claws naturally!
“Hey Mum, this is great, why didn’t you let us out before?” Lovely snap shots of the great escape Jan.
Ta, Val. Not easy to get as the little varmints keep moving! My dogs used to pose beautifully. 🙂
Or sharpening claws!
If they turn into great hunters, and a friend has two tabbies who think Enfield is a game park, catching and eating everything – friend regularly finds grisly remains; a squirrel’s tail, the rest being eaten – apparently you need to add extra bells. They can learn to silence one bell, but more are harder. although friend’s tabby are also adept at ‘losing’ their collars…
Yikes! With several bells they will sound like they’re bringing Christmas! 🙂
Fabulous pictures Janh. They are bold aren’t they? Lily doesn’t like her collar though – I recognise the fuzziness from scratching to try to get it off.
She’s ok with it. It’s Leo’s. He grew out of it. Before that, it was second hand too – so she’s third wearer. She’s such a tiddler that the new red “I am microchipped” collar doesn’t fit yet. 🙂
Oh blimey. And then today Lily got stuck at the top of the pineapple broom – about four feet above my head, mewing pitifully.
Big bro climbed up the trunk to show her the way down but for some reason she wanted to try only the spindliest branches so eventually I had to grab her.
This does not bode well 🙂
Poor Lily.
She looks like she is still growing into the 3rd paw collar – ridiculously innocent looking (but never believe that: its all part of their master plan!) 😀
I’m keeping them in until the weekend, hoping Leo will develop a few more brain cells by then. He fell out of the pineapple broom into next door’s ‘building site’ garden today and sat miaowing loudly and pathetically on a pile of paving slabs until I showed him, ahem, where the very obvious path was. Honestly, he hasn’t got a clue!
Bless.
